Crock Pots are God's Gift

Woke up with a kink in my neck. I want to sleep longer.

Made the most delicious chicken tacos yesterday.

Like really, I wished I could eat more, that's how awesome they were.

Crock pots are really a gift from heaven.

I've used my crock pot twice this week, and both times = success.

Pretty sure I'll become addicted to the crock pot as it gets colder, not to mention, the house smelled heavenly. And all I had to do was put things in the crockpot. (well, Carlos did it when we dashed out the door--go hubby!)

We are hiking timp tomorrow.
Yes, you read that right.
We need to get granola bars, snacks, and water.
And warm clothes.

I hiked it 2/3 years ago when I came back from the DR. We hiked from the American Fork side, this time, we will be tackling it from the Alpine Loop.
This will be entirely different. I'll be with my husband and hopefully by the end, he won't want to murder me.

:) Happy day. It's almost Friday.
Lunch at work today.

Boondocks tomorrow.
Life can't be beat.

Gasp

I got this scary message today:
Huluplus is probably one of the best investments ever.

I use it everyday.

I'm a serial watcher.

I can't just start watching a show, I have to finish the entire season in a week. I get consumed by what happens to the protagonist, and the plot twists and turns.

Yesterday was unbelievably long. I worked until 4, made dinner, saw the hubs for about 10 minutes at work, then had class from 6 to 8:30. Got home about 9, and went to get the hubs at 9:30.

We made smoothies, watched Breaking Bad, and I promptly fell asleep.

Married life is so much better, I tell ya.

Crispy Mornings, Not Crisp Enough

With the crispness of the Fall beginning to creep in, my thoughts turn to hot cider, snuggling, and new beginnings.

This morning, I got to work at the ungodly hour of 5:30.
I got to drop off the hubby at 5 in the am!
But, it got me up and ready to go.
I nearly forgot how much I love getting up before the sun comes up and starting my day.

I got to come into the office and enjoy the solitude for about two hours.
Talk about bliss.

I am currently obsessed with pretty, simple fonts. Typography is something that makes my heart sing, and something that I will always have patience for.
Aren't these logos so pretty?

Even for my wedding invitations, I poured over the fonts that we would use.
My heart sings for the time to sit and design, and create.

Tonight, Carlos and I will attend the Dean's Dinner for my MBA program.
I'm excited to see the people I will be spending two years with.

Tomorrow, I have a workshop I have to attend for the MBA program. I'll be gone all day.
Besides thinking, "finally", I don't really have any thoughts about starting my MBA. I know I'll be busy, but I don't know what to expect. I'm still drinking in the bliss of married life. Some days it's not all rainbows and sunshine, but at the end of the day, I wouldn't want to do anything else.

Loving the Switcharoo

I'm loving my new desktop.
I decided that it needed a change.
Take a look at my sleek Chrome bar too.
And I do love that Chrome notifies you on your desktop when you get a new email/chat.

disregard the hubby's attempt to call me a chicken.

Happy Monthiversary! :)

Wow! I've been married to the most wonderful man for a month now! :)
30 whole days! It's kind of awesome how this is going to last for the rest of forever!

Here are just a few things I love about him:

1. He always makes my day better
2. He can always make me laugh
3. He pushes me to be a better person
4. I am constantly learning from him
5. He teaches me patience
6. He has taught me the true meaning of love
7. I can always count on him
8. He will never give up on me
9. He always kisses me
10. Snuggling up next to him is one of the best things ever
11. He can cook
12. He is a hard worker

This is our first dance song, and hopefully we will enjoy it for years and years to come :)

I love you baby! :)
Can't wait to see you later!

Donut Ice Cream: Say What?!

Can I just say, I absolutely adore being married. It's probably the greatest thing ever.

Last night, I got frustrated though, and being that fat kid I am, I made Donut Ice Cream. You read right. Obviously I am on no diet of any kind, and I had extra donuts (the hubs may have bought some cake donuts on sale at Macy's--but we're not fat!)

And this is the recipe I followed. Fat, but good, good fat. And plus, I can use the "I'm on my period excuse" for this...

And here's the post that I got it from.

Here's what you are going to need:

2 large eggs (since the eggs are not cooked, you may want to use pasteurized eggs)
3/4 cup of sugar
2 cups of heavy cream
1 cup of whole milk
3 Krispy Kreme donuts (I used cake donuts)

Whisk the eggs until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes.

Whisk in the sugar, a little at a time. BLend it completely.

Add the heavy cream and whole milk.

Mix well.

Chop the donuts up until they are crumbs.

Add to the ice cream mixture.

Pour the mixture into your ice cream freezer

Freeze according to your ice cream maker recommendations.

How utterly decadent and yummy.
And fat too.
And fat. :)

Happy Friday! Whip Cream Recipe. . .

Tonight, I want to be a fats.
Like the kind where I just pig out.

I want Papa Murphy's. Dripping with cheese and chicken, and onions.

Also, I want whipped cream with brownies.

YUM!

Here's the recipe I will be using for my homemade whip cream:

What You Need: 1 cup heavy whipping cream, 2 tablespoons sugar and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract.
*makes about 3 delicious cups

Get your electric mixer out, pour your cream in, and then beat on med. for 3 minutes. Then, add the sugar and vanilla and beat until peaks form. *You can also do this by hand, add about 5 minutes for beating time.

Why yes, yes please.

So tonight, I will be making pizza, brownies, and whipped cream.

Also, since the hubs is working, I'll be crafting it up, watching Make It or Break It, cleaning, and finishing a test I have to do....

So here's to an awesome Friday! :)

And a Recipe (if You've Got a Sweet Tooth)

Today is Thursday!
I am so done with this week.

Although, it seems like I will be spending a lot of time at home alone, which is fine.

I need the time to decorate!

I've got some cuuuute projects that are planned.

Right now, my projects are for the outside of my house.

A wreath and a doormat.

I can't wait to upload pics soon!

In other news, I start my MBA program in less than a month.

My wonderful hubby made me breakfast, and it was pretty good!

This Watermelon sorbet recipe is legit!
Especially if you want to save on the calories...or just take advantage of all of the yummy watermelon that is around!

1 cup sugar (I used Splenda, and it tastes just as good, and no calories!)
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup lemon juice (I haven't put in the lemon juice both times I've made this, I just put in more water)
3 cups watermelon

Directions:
1 Cook the sugar, water and lemon juice together, stirring occasionally until the sugar is dissolved.
2. Remove from heat and chill.
3 Cut up the watermelon and remove all seeds.
4 Puree in a blender or food processor.
5 Stir into chilled syrup.
6 Freeze in an ice-cream maker according to the manufacturer's instructions.
7 Pack into an airtight container and store in the freezer.

It's light, refreshing, and you don't have to worry about the extra fattyness.
Enjoy! :)

And Such Is Married Life

Yesterday, I picked up my husband from work at 630.

We went to the grocery store.

We went home at 7.

We didn't even put our groceries away, and we fell asleep. At 7 pm. On a Wednesday.

Such is married life.

I remember staying up until at least midnight so I could talk to my fiance. Our schedules (and my parents) made it near impossible for us to see each other for too long.

Now we get home.
We snuggle.
We do things married people do,
and
We fall asleep.

Then we wake up at 11:30 pm and make guacamole.
But one of us forgets to buy salt, and the hubby (being amazing as usual) runs to Wendy's to get salt.

We watch an episode of Breaking Bad,
and then back to bed.

And I get to work late (7:30 am is late for me).

And now all I want to do is go to Zumba, take my stupid test, and go snuggle with my husband.

Jack the kitty kat

We found this cute lil' kitty cat the other day.
It's adorable.

I'm tired.
I want to snuggle and be done with the day.

I made french toast today.
Today was not our best morning.

But it's ok.
I'm already looking forward to relaxing and being done.

I need a break.
I want another honeymoon.

Good food and my hubby is all I need right now.
I miss my hubbs.
A lot.

I'm tired of feeling less than I really am.
Sometimes I'm pretty insecure.
The hubbs things I'm silly, and I'm tired of fighting sometimes.
We are so different. But so right for each other.

He makes me so happy.
And sometimes annoys the crap out of me.
But that's life.

Is is sad i'm excited to watch Bachelor Pad right now?
Don't be jealous.

Our First Official Dinner As Mr and Mrs

In true newlywed fashion, we dined on Man and cheese and hot dogs. And 15 calorie peach juice! Yum, yum, yum!
And also made some ice cream in our ice cream maker. Which, word of advice: never get sugar free chocolate syrup. It's positively butt-nasty.

Like really.

We had started unpacking all of the wonderful gifts that we received from friends and family, and boy, we got lucky! We got some nice things! Thank you all! :)

Now to the daily grind. It kind of sucks to leave before Carlos in the mornings, but just as rewarding to be able to come home as early as 2. :)

side note: not even 5 minutes after we unwrapped glass cups, i broke one.
Glass cups: 1
Neltje: 0

Glass and I do not go well together.

I Need a Vacay from my Vacation

I need a vacation from my vacation.

Hey guess what?!

I'm merrrried!

It's unbelievable.

I got my first speeding ticket back from our honeymoon.
Welcome back to real life.
Suck.

Waited for the hubbs to come back last night.
Wasn't too thrilled to wait.

:)

Love life.
Love my hubby.
